Very rich in Spanish history and literature, the centre of Spain is less visited than the coast, but that's really unfair. Around Madrid there are lots of excellent attractions, with Toledo and Cuenca topping it. Travelling circumstances made me have also know Albacete and a few more remote and discreet places, as Roda, Torrijos or Chinchilla. |
Albacete
Chinchila de Montearagon |
In our way back from the beach, crossing the long and arid center of Spain, we needed to make a stop for lunch, and... Chinchilla was there.
We saw the castle from distance, had the planned lunch in Los Manzanos, and hop we go further north. |
Cuenca
European Capital of Culture in 2016, Cuenca is a precious city, combining nature and history. Dramatic canyons with medieval houses, everything very well preserved and protected it is a very interesting and easy visit. |
Roda |
We were sent to Roda by Google Maps. I will explain:
We were driving south, with a planned stop for lunch in Albacete, when the GPS in the phone alerted us that an accident near town was delaying traffic for about one hour. The solution should be stopping before that, hoping that, during lunchtime, everything would be solved. It was! Roda was in the most convenient location, we had a glimpse and the desired lunch in Juanito. A positive impression! |
Toledo
After a first and brief visit many years ago, Toledo was a city where I always wanted to return. Several times postponed, the second visit took place moths ago, and though not so deep as desired, served to remember most of the forgotten images, and do add some new. Extremely rich and beautiful, it convinced me - there will be a third visit, I only don't know when. |
Torrijos |
Our plan, returning from the southern coast, was to make a night stop close to Toledo, that half of the group wanted to visit in the next day, while the other half would proceed back home.
This hotel in Torrijos was a cheap suggestion of Booking, in the strategically place where we would separate, and we booked it. We didn't see the city, the only thing that we noticed was the use of the hotel's large pool as a comunal one, with entrance to the street. I don't know the conditions and prices, but it seems a good idea |
